A BOUTIQUE VILLA IN THE
TRUE SENSE OF THE WORD
|
Step into the
Adelphi, a stylishly appointed boutique hotel in the southern hill
country
Standing in its own attractive gardens
with fine mature mango trees, The Adelphi is a small boutique hotel
which dates back to the late 30’s. The hotel’s Art Deco design
features are reminiscent of the heyday of cinema, and to mark this
glamorous period, the five guest rooms are named after famous
cinema halls of Ceylon: Majestic, Liberty, Regal, Ritz, and Savoy.
The Art Deco period (1920-1939) is an eclectic artistic and design
style reflected in the interior design and furnishings
at the Adelphi.
The five guest rooms, all with en suite facilities, are furnished with
comfortable easy chairs and a writing table. The Majestic,
Regal, Ritz, and Savoy offer king size beds while the “Liberty”
features twin beds. The
“Regal” has the benefit of having its own small garden terrace
looking out towards the gardens, whilst the “Majestic”, on the upper
floor, opens out onto a large private roof terrace enjoying majestic
views of the garden and surrounding mountains.
Comfortable period furniture, decorations and architectural features
in keeping with the period give the public rooms a glamorous yet
cosy feeling, combined with modern facilities such as complimentary
internet access in the library/study.
The Adelphi guests enjoy the same standards of modern comfort and
service that our visitors have come to expect and enjoy at nearby
Dutch House-Bandarawela. Whilst the Dutch House offers complete
privacy to one travelling party, The Adelphi affords the
opportunity to meet other guests in a congenial atmosphere.
